Design Review for Geo-technical Investigation & Design of Mitigation Measure for Roadside Slope Disaster Management of Kharkhare Landslide, Dumre-Besisahar-Chame Road, Lamjung.
Project: Design Review for Geo-technical Investigation & Design of Mitigation Measure for Roadside Slope Disaster Management of Kharkhare Landslide, Dumre-Besisahar-Chame Road, Lamjung.
Client: Department of Roads
Year: 2025
Status: Completed
The consultancy assignment focused on investigating the causes of slope failure at Kharkhare landslide and reviewing the previously proposed mitigation design based on current site conditions. GEOINFRA’s responsibilities included comprehensive data analysis, design review, and proposed solution development. The major tasks included:
- Desk study and review of all relevant documentation, including past designs, bore logs, geological maps, hydrological data, and aerial images.
- Topographical survey covering minimum 320m slope length, with 150m uphill and 50m downhill sections.
- General slope inspection and hazard assessment.
- Geological and seismological studies of the affected slope.
- Drilling of two boreholes, each reaching at least 16m depth.
- Risk level assessment of the slope failure.
- Interpretation and analysis of geotechnical and geological data.
- Design review and modification of previously proposed mitigation structures, including preparation of quantity estimates.
