Special Inspection and Design of Maintenance/Repair Works for Daijee Bridge, Kanchanpur
Project: Special Inspection and Design of Maintenance/Repair Works for Daijee Bridge, Kanchanpur
Client: Department of Roads
Year: 2025
Status: Ongoing
GEOINFRA was engaged to carry out a special inspection and design intervention for the Daijee Bridge following signs of foundation settlement and clay boiling. The major tasks undertaken included:
- Review of historical geotechnical reports, hydrological data, and bridge design documents.
- Analysis of past settlement records, soil stratigraphy, and seasonal groundwater trends.
- Detailed field inspection and mapping of surface distress, deformation, and clay boiling zones.
- Drilling of three geotechnical boreholes with SPT and undisturbed sampling.
- Seismic Refraction Tomography (SRT) to identify subsurface weak zones.
- Laboratory testing to determine soil properties and shear strength parameters.
- Interpretation of geotechnical data to assess settlement mechanisms and liquefaction potential.
- Structural and geotechnical stability analysis of foundation elements under static and dynamic loads.
- Design of engineering solutions to mitigate foundation distress and enhance long-term bridge resilience.
