Assessment of Roadside Slope Hazards and Infrastructure Vulnerability Along Narayanghat-Mugling Highway for Maintenance Prioritization
Project: Assessment of Roadside Slope Hazards and Infrastructure Vulnerability Along Narayanghat-Mugling Highway for Maintenance Prioritization
Client: Road Board Nepal
Year: 2025
Status: Completed
GEOINFRA carried out a comprehensive assessment of slope hazards and infrastructure vulnerability along the Narayanghat-Mugling Highway to support data-driven maintenance planning. The assignment combined desk-based research, field surveys, geospatial analysis, and risk prioritization. Key tasks included:
- Desk study, literature review, and data collection from relevant agencies.
- Field reconnaissance survey to identify and document roadside slopes.
- Condition assessment of existing vulnerable slopes.
- Stability analysis of critical slope sections.
- Preparation of slope inventory database (geological, geometric, and administrative data).
- Compilation of historical hazard database (type, scale, causes, consequences).
- Generation of landslide susceptibility maps using past data and causative factors.
- Development of a slope condition rating system for risk categorization.
- Formulation of a maintenance prioritization framework based on slope hazard and infrastructure vulnerability.
